Hype

The White Roost canyons are great, casual canyons packed with a lot of beauty. Both have their charm, but the main fork is likely the better of the two, being a bit longer. Both are very beginner friendly.

Great winter canyon. Did this one January (2008). Encountered no water (or ice) in the west fork. The flow down stream at the confulence with the main fork was frozen solid. Pics at: http://picasaweb.google.com/steve.lawyer/WhiteRoostCanyonWestFork# Best part (as always) -- not a soul to be seen in 5 degree temps.

Fun casual canyons. Went March 2011, not a single footprint in the canyon. All anchors were intact and had good webbing and rings/links. All water was avoidable with a little creativity! Camping spot was gorgeous! Did both forks which are quite different from each other, really enjoyed the West Fork "horizontal" slot.
