About
Firmly believing in Heinlein's quote, "Specialization is for insects.", Average Joe Road Trips provides Average Joe's and Average Jane's with a diverse selection of extraordinary adventures. You don't need to climb 5.12 to stand on top of a desert tower, paddle class V to see some amazing rivers, or be an ace canyoneer to experience some of the best canyons the Colorado Plateau has to offer.A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. -Robert A. Heinlein
Average Joe Road Trips will provide all the information you need for an extraordinary adventure.

Ryan Average Joe I started climbing and canyoneering over 10 years ago. What started as an occasional fun outing turned into a passion for all aspects of the outdoors. Although focused on climbing and canyoneering, I have also been dabbling in rivers, caving, and trail running. The power of a good road trip to turn down the volume on the stresses of day to day life is amazing. I started this site to enable others to share to beauty, uniqueness, and power of truly extraordinary places. |

Cristina Average Jane I moved to Utah in 2001 attracted by the scenic pictures of the amazing National Parks that make Utah known worldwide, but after a very short time I realized that Utah has more to offer than that. More beautiful place in which you can still enjoy beautiful scenery and a peacefully relaxing time. I also discovered that it was possible to rock climb, raft , canyoneer and hike without it being necessary to be a wonder woman, but just an average person with a passion for the outdoors. |

2007 Subaru Forester Above Average Vehicle Likely one of the best road trip vehicles around, the Forester is reliable, spacious, and economical. With average road trip driving, it proudly offers 28-31 MPG, and with some creativity, it can comfortable sleep 2. Think of it as the Forester Inn. Carefully driven, it is amazing the places it can take you. |
