Sunrise at the pond.
Looking for a quick outing after work to take the canoe out, do a little fishing, birding, or just take a stroll around a pond? Bountiful Pond can fit the bill nicely! The pond is an artificial pond that was created when clay soil was dug out to use around the very nearby landfill. It is a lovely place to visit year-round. In the summer, it is one of my favorite places to take the family for a quick canoe trip. In the winter, strolling the loop around the pond at sunrise or sunset is quite stunning.
The water is a bit polluted. Some do swim in the pond, but it was a bit too polluted for our tastes to actual swim in. Fishing seems to be the main attraction, as the banks have been busy with fishermen on my visits.

Getting There
The pond is just east of Legacy Parkway. Take exit 4 off Legacy Parkway, and head west on the Frontage Road. The road makes a curve, then heads north paralleling the Legacy Highway. Follow the Frontage Road 2.4 miles to the signed Bountiful Pond side road on the left. Follow the short side road to the lake and trailhead.

Route
There is a boat ramp at the parking lot, for easy canoe/kayak launching. The east short tends to be the busiest when I have visited, but for my money, walking the path to the west side is more scenic. Fishing seems hit or miss, likely depending on the crowds and how recently it was stocked.
