Hype

Covert and La Boca Arches are two impressive arches on the east side of Arches National Park. Covert Arch is located in Lost Springs, a region recently (1998) annexed as part of Arches National Park. La Boca is outside of the park, and can be driven to. Both arches are impressive, but even more is the sheer solitude and beauty this area holds. The area offers glimpses of Arches National Park proper from a distance, the La Sal mountains, and many old mining ruins from the Uranium mining days.

You are not likely to run into many, or usually any, other visitors in this region, however there is exquisite primitive camping near La Boca Arch and the trailhead for Covert. This area makes for great family outings, or hiking and camping.

Comments

Getting under the arch was pretty easy and did not feel exposed. From the top of the arch we walked the rim to the right (looking away from the arch) about 5 min to the top of a boulder pile. The first move down used an easy and wide 7 foot crack with good holds to access the boulder pile. From there it was an easy walk on slick rock to the arch.
