Cristina and I tried to locate the lava tubes with vague directions in the Spring of 2007. After a fruitless attempt, we went back to Meadow and asked one of the locals. They gave us great directions, and we spent the afternoon checking out the lava tubes.

After a sunrise soak in the neighboring hot springs, I wandered through these cool tubes and still was able to make the 12,000' trailhead for White Mtn. Pk. in California before sundown... glad I stopped by, thanks for the tip!
