Overview:
Rating: 3A I
Length: 2-4 Hours

Flash flood Danger: Moderate, but you can see the whole drainage and skies on the approach.
Season: Any.
Hype:
Upper Stair is a great, short outing. Although not technical, it
does involve a lot of chimneying and stemming, so is only recommended
for technical canyoneers. Being a short route, with no rappels,
allows this canyon to be enjoyed while carrying minimal gear.
My History:
I have been through Upper Stair several times, most
recently in the winter of 2007. The first time we went
all the way down to Highway 95. The upper section is
definitely the best section of the canyon.
