Overview:
Rating: 3A II
Length: 3-5 Hours
Gear: Rope for raps up to 25 m ( 83 ft ) and 30 m ( 99 ft ) of webbing.
Water: Generally little or none, most pools should be avoidable.
Flash flood Danger: Moderate, but you can see the whole drainage and skies on the approach.
Season: Any.
Hype:
The main fork of Butler does not have much to recommend it, if you are looking for a slot canyon adventure. The slot section is short and fairly shallow. The main fork of Butler is a good option if you are looking for a nice hike with a couple of raps thrown in for good measure. The canyon near, and just below the rappels is a very beautiful, wide canyon.
My History:
I've been through main Butler twice, most recently in the fall of 2007.
