RATING: 3B
LENGTH: 3-5 hours
GEAR: Standard Technical Gear - No Wetsuit
RAPPELS: 2 to 30 m ( 99 ft ) (1 optional to 40 m ( 132 ft ))
WATER: Normally dry, wading to waist deep after recent heavy rains.
FLASH FLOOD DANGER: Low / Moderate
SEASON: Any, hot in summer
Hype:
Pool Arch canyon is more of a hike than a technical hardcore canyoneering adventure. It provides lovely views, and visits 2 arches en route to the technical section of canyon. Generally dry, it is a good choice in cooler times of the year. The route gets quite a bit of sun, so is not recommended in the heat of the day during the summer. It's short technical section, and easy nature make this a good choice for beginners.Beware, the anchors have changed a few times over the years, with pitons and webbing being removed. Natural anchors abound on this trip, just be sure to bring plenty of webbing. (20 m ( 66 ft ) )
My History:
I last visited Pool Arch canyon in the summer of 2010. Cristina and I were there after torrential rains the day before. Even so, we only got wet to waist deep in the short technical section, the rest of the canyon was dry.Comments:

pothole
This is also called Rock of Ages by some, although originally called Pool Arch canyon by locals. Best write-up I've seen for this route. Good in the evenings in the summer.
