float Moab to Potash - Colorado River
( 1 Vote )
RATING: Class I
LENGTH: 1-2 days
SEASON: Any, best Spring through Fall
NOTES: The shuttle is about 20 miles, and is paved highway all but the last few hundred feet. This makes a reasonable shuttle to bicycle, or possibly hitch a ride.

Hype:

Looking for a very lazy day or two on the river with easy access, and great scenery? Floating from Moab to Potash on the Colorado River might be just the ticket. The float, about 17 miles, is flat water, and class I. This makes for an easy, family friendly float that can be done in one day, or a very casual 2 days.

If it weren't for distraction of the Potash road following the river, this would likely be considered a classic. As is, if you can block out the road noise, it is an great time out. If doing it in 2 days, Gold Bar makes a good camping point, and is easily accessible by car for spotting gear if desired.

My History:

We floated this section in the spring of 2010 with a CFS of about 17,000. At that flow, it took us about 5 hours of float time plus stops.
