Lower Calf Creek Falls

Overview:

Rating: Easy trail walking
Length: 3-5 hours
Season: Any, although summers can be hot.

Hype:

Lower Calf Creek falls is likely one of the most photographed and visited waterfalls on the Colorado Plateau. It is a gem. The campground at the trailhead is a great place to camp, and has water and restrooms.

Trailhead:

Head east out of the town of Escalante about 15 miles on highway 12 until mile marker 75. Lower Calf Creek campground is signed on the left. The trail starts at the campground.

Route Description:

From the parking area, follow the signs to the trailhead. Be sure to get a trail guide at the trailhead for the interpretive markers you will encounter along the way. It is about 3 miles from the campground to the falls one way, with several indian ruins and other interesting features to see along the way. In the summer, the falls is a great place to cool off and have a swim.
