RATING: Moderately strenuous hike or very pleasant 2 day backpack.
LENGTH: 7-9 hours. About 9.5 miles with +/- 2000 ft. of elevation
WATER: A small stream begins partway down Hammond Canyon. It should be filtered, but would provide good water for backpacking.
FLASH FLOOD DANGER: None
SEASON: Late Spring through Fall.
Hype:
Hammond Canyon is a delightful tapestry of pinnacles, lush green foliage, water falls, and the well preserved Three Finger Indian ruin. The contrast between the green of the foliage, the whites and reds of the sandstone, and the blue of the sky make for a photographers paradise. Although a strenuous day hike, this would be a pleasant and easy overnight backpack. If backpacking, be sure to practice low impact camping techniques.Login For Full Details!
